For a typical three-bedroom house, one to two weeks. That is the honest answer, and the range is wide because the property matters more than the number of bedrooms. A solid stone cottage takes longer than a modern block-built semi. A house with generous loft and underfloor access takes less time than one where every run has to be chased into a wall. Outbuildings, garden rooms and garages all add days.
The other variable is whether you are living in it. An empty house is quicker because we can work through it rather than around you. Lived in is perfectly normal though, and most of our rewires are done that way: we work room by room, keep the power on overnight wherever we can, and tell you the day before if a particular circuit has to go off. You get a day-by-day plan before we start, not a vague window.
Construction matters most
Solid stone and lath and plaster take longer than modern block; good loft and underfloor access saves days.
Empty is quicker
An empty property lets us work straight through, but living in it is normal and we plan around you.
A plan, not a window
You get a day-by-day schedule before we start, so you know what is happening and when.
Your questions, answered
How much does a rewire cost?
A three-bedroom house typically runs from around £4,000 to £7,000 in the UK, more for a larger or rural property with outbuildings. We price yours after seeing it and confirm it in writing.
Will the power be off the whole time?
No. We keep power on overnight wherever we can and tell you in advance when a circuit has to go off during the day.
Do you make good afterwards?
Yes. Chases filled, floors relaid and every room left clean at the end of each day. The making good is part of the job, not someone else's.
Ready for electrics done properly?
Competitive prices, certified work and an immaculate finish, on every single job.
