Clear, honest safety reports for homeowners, landlords and businesses

EICRs, PAT & Electrical Testing

An Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) is a structured inspection of everything electrical in a property, from the consumer unit to the furthest socket, coded and explained in plain English. It's especially useful in Glasgow's tenement flats, where shared supplies and older wiring behind a fresh coat of paint can hide genuine issues.

Homeowners are advised to have one every five years, and it is worth knowing that an insurer can question a claim if the wiring has never been checked. Landlords have a legal duty to keep rented property electrically safe, and homebuyers use an EICR to avoid expensive surprises.

We also carry out PAT testing, so the appliances plugged into the installation are checked as well as the wiring behind the walls. Whatever the reason, you get the formal certificate plus a straightforward summary of what matters, and a clear price for anything that needs putting right.

EICR & testing questions, answered

How much does an EICR cost?

It depends on the size of the property and the number of circuits, so we confirm a competitive price before you book.

How often should I have an EICR?

Every five years for your own home, and sooner for an older installation. Rented homes need one regularly, and a change of tenancy is a good trigger too.

Can a claim be refused if I have never had one?

It can be questioned. Most home insurance expects the wiring to be in a safe condition, and with no report there is nothing to show it was. A current EICR takes that argument away.

Do you do PAT testing as well?

Yes. We test and label portable appliances for homes, landlords and businesses, and it is easy to do at the same visit as an EICR.

What happens if the report is unsatisfactory?

It just means one or more items need attention. We explain them in plain English and price the work to put them right and re-issue a satisfactory report.

Do you test tenement flats in Glasgow?

Yes, regularly. Shared supplies and older wiring behind a fresh decoration are common in tenement flats, and we know what to look for.
