Lanark homes and their wiring
Lanark is an old town. It was a royal burgh from 1140 until 1975 and was the county town of Lanarkshire. Many older homes here are built of stone. Thick stone walls are slow to chase, so we plan cable routes with care before we start.
Down the hill sits New Lanark. David Dale opened its cotton mills in 1786 and built homes for the workers. It became a World Heritage Site in 2001. Braxfield Row and Long Row are now private homes again, while Caithness Row and Nursery Buildings hold rented flats.
New Lanark and the Falls of Clyde form a conservation area. There, changes to the outside of a building, such as windows and doors, may need planning consent. So outside lights, cameras and chargers need some thought before anyone drills a hole.
Out of town, homes are spread out. Farms and steadings can need long cable runs to sheds, barns and gates.
